Stephan Hohlbaum (he/him)
Stephan Hohlbaum, PsyD, LPC
Dr. Hohlbaum is a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adolescents (ages 13+), adults, couples, and families seeking deeper understanding, emotional clarity, and meaningful change. Whether clients are navigating trauma, relationship challenges, identity questions, or significant life transitions, Stephan brings a calm, reflective, and compassionate presence to the therapeutic space.
At Hershey Counseling Center, Stephan helps clients explore long-standing emotional and relational patterns, develop insight into their inner experiences, and strengthen connections with themselves and others. His work is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy and attachment-based care, supporting clients in understanding how past experiences shape current thoughts, emotions, and relationships. His style is collaborative, thoughtful, and depth-oriented, with a focus on long-term growth rather than short-term symptom management.
Stephan also integrates trauma-informed approaches into his work and is trained in EMDR and DBT-informed interventions when clinically appropriate. He works with individuals and families affected by trauma and complex trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, neurodevelopmental differences, and relational stress, tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs and developmental stage.
In addition to therapy, Stephan provides comprehensive psychological, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological evaluations. His assessments offer diagnostic clarification and individualized recommendations, and he collaborates closely with families, schools, and other providers to ensure evaluations are practical, thoughtful, and clinically meaningful.
Stephan earned his Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) and Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Immaculata University. He has extensive experience across outpatient, school-based, and residential settings, as well as a strong background in supervision, teaching, and program development. His approach blends psychodynamic therapy, attachment-based and trauma-informed care, and evidence-informed practices, with deep respect for each client’s story, strengths, and values.
